Four people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during a DUI checkpoint conducted by the Murrieta Police Department Saturday night, police said.
A total of 909 vehicles passed through the checkpoint on Margarita Road at Torrey Pines between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m., according to a news release. Of those, 438 vehicles were stopped and 28 taken to a secondary area for further investigation. In addition to four DUI arrests, seven people were cited and released for driving on a suspended driver's license; four drivers were cited and released for driving without a driver's license; and two drivers were cited and released for active misdemeanor warrants.
The operation is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
