Murrieta Valley High School suffered its first loss in three football games Friday night when visiting Grandview High of Colorado scored a touchdown and two-point conversion with 20 seconds left to win, 50-49.

The loss overshadowed an outstanding individual performance by quarterback Hank Bachmeier, who passed for nearly 500 yards and four touchdowns. A Grandview touchdown late in the game tied the score at 42, but Murrieta Valley took a 49-42 lead on a 46-yard run by Lika Palmer.

Grandview wasn't finished, however. The visitors drove 72 yards to score and added a 2-point conversion for the victory.

Next week, Murrieta Valley plays at Rancho Cucamonga.
