A Murrieta man was arrested for possession of narcotics and stolen property early Wednesday morning after the Murrieta Police Department received a call from a citizen stating her vehicle had been broken into, authorities said.

An officer responded at around 2:30 a.m. to the area of 23500 Underwood Circle to contact the caller. Additional officers responded to the area to check for any additional victims.

At 2:48 a.m. an officer contacted a male walking in the area of Silkwood Court and Spinning Wheel Drive, approximately one block from where the
vehicle burglary had occurred. The male was identified as 31-year-old Bryan Mendez. A records check of Mendez revealed a lengthy criminal history dating back 20 years with convictions for burglary, narcotics, and possession of stolen property.

Mendez was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and property taken during the burglary on Underwood Circle. The suspect was placed under arrest for narcotics and the possession of stolen property and booked into the Southwest Detention Center.

No additional burglary victims were located.
