Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Murrieta Mesa High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are the honorees from Murrieta Mesa for the week of Oct. 17:

Shawn Fujioka and Briana Pallanes are the No. 1 doubles team for the girls tennis team. They have played together all season long and have been a highlight for the Rams.

Boys cross country runner Chris Dixon "has battled injuries his entire high school career and handled the adversity with a great attitude," said his coach, Aaron Ballou. "Chris has been a consistent top runner for the Rams and has been a great leader this year."

Girls cross country runner Hailey Richards "has made consistent improvements all year and set PRs in every race so far this year," Ballou said.

Clay Solorza was a key factor in a recent win over Chaparral for the boys water team. He had two goals, two five-meters drawn and one exclusion drawn along with two steals. "He is a hard worker with a good attitude," said his coach, Audra Woods.

These athletes will be eligible for the October Athlete of the Month award. Anyone wishing to order a print copy of this article may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com
