Editor's note: This article honors the athletes selected by their coaches for the week of Oct. 3. This week's selections will announced later this week.

Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Murrieta Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are the Murrieta Valley honorees for the week of Oct. 3:

Caitlin Billman won the varsity large school race in a major cross country invitational in Arizona.

Kaitlyn Arias, just a freshman, is having a standout season as a defensive specialist/libero for the girls volleyball team.

Sophomore goalkeeper Collin Winters made 11 saves in a loss to top-ranked Laguna Beach. Winters started at goalkeeper as a frehman last year when the Nighthawks won the CIF Division 3 championship.

Alyssa Karavitch won three sets in a recent league match against Temecula Valley.

Kalena Schurb posted her season-low score in a girls golf match against Murrieta Mesa on Sept. 29.

These athletes will be eligible for the October Athlete of the Month award. Anyone wishing to order a print copy of this article may do so by emailing murrieta247info@gmail.com.
