Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Murrieta Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's honorees from Murrieta Valley:

Senior center defender Andrew Gronbach of the boys water polo team "is a staple and anchor on our varsity team this year," said his coach, Bryan Layton. "He's a consummate professional that trains hard, has a great attitude and competes every day."

Also honored from the water polo team is senior center defender Eric Scheulinger, who scored 2 goals in a 10-7 loss to No. 1 Cathedral of San Diego recently.

Defensive specialist Cynthia Arango has had an outstanding season for the girls volleyball team.

Cross country runner Gavin Miller placed 14th out of 131 runners in the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational with a personal best time of 16:37. He also has the 10th best time on that course of any Nighthawks runner ever.

Defensive back Brock Berry is a standout for the football team, which opens the CIF playoffs at home Friday against St. Bonaventure.
