The Murrieta Valley High School football team will be at home against San Clemente Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 championship game.

The CIF-SS office announced the championship schedule in all divisions Saturday morning. The Nighthawks, Southwestern League champions and the division's No. 2 seed heading into the playoffs, will put its 11-2 record on the line in a bid for the championship trophy.

Murrieta Valley earned that right with a 63-42 win at La Habra Friday night in the Division 2 semifinals. The Nighthawks once again used a high-scoring offense to knock off the opposition, led as usual by quarterback Hank Bachmeier.

The sophomore quarterback passed for 300 yards and five touchdowns for the Nighthawks, who scored early and often, taking a 42-28 halftime lead and never looking back. Lika Palmer rushed for 275 yards and four touchdowns as well.

MVHS has scored 63 points in each of its three playoff victories and has outscored the opposition 669-421 this season.

San Clemente (10-3) advanced to the championship game with a 41-35 victory over Valencia Friday night. The previous week, the Tritons defeated top-seeded Heritage High of Menifee, 23-19.

Murrieta 24/7 will have pregame coverage throughout the week and will be at the game with complete game coverage Friday night.
