A Twentynine Palms girl was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the rain on southbound Interstate 15 in Temecula Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The adult driver and three other teenagers were injured in the accident, which occurred about 8 a.m. just south of Temecula Parkway. A 2007 Ford F-450 pickup truck was traveling at approximately 60 mph in the No. 3 lane in heavy rain when it began to fishtail, according to witnesses. The vehicle veered into the No. 4 lane and continued toward the right shoulder, where it ran up an embankment and rolled over three or four times.

The middle rear passenger, a 15-year-old girl, was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected, according to the CHP. She suffered fatal injuries.

The driver, 40-year-old Nicole Rachel Healy, was transported to Inland Valley Hospital with moderate injuries. Also transported were a 14-year-old girl with major injuries, a 13-year-old girl with moderate injuries and a 17-year-old boy with minor injuries. All are from Twentynine Palms.

The No. 4 lane was closed during the investigation.
