Two Murrieta residents were booked on drug and theft charges Thursday morning after they were stopped by Murrieta Police officers in a stolen vehicle, authorities said.

A resident called at 6:59 a.m. to report that a vehicle was blocking her driveway in the 25000 block of Parkcrest Drive. From her report, including the license plate, police learned the vehicle had been reported stolen from Temecula. A male approached the vehicle and left in the direction of Los Alamos Road, according to the caller.

When police arrived, they discovered the vehicle turning onto Los Alamos Road from Parkcrest Drive. A felony traffic stop was conducted.

Two subjects inside the stolen vehicle were identified as Aaris Richards, 29, and Denise Gamble, 42, both of Murrieta. A records check revealed that Richards had prior convictions for narcotics, assault and weapons charges. A search of Gamble revealed methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe was located through a search of Richards.

Richards was arrested and booked for possession of the stolen vehicle possession of drug paraphernalia. Gamble was booked for possession of a controlled substance and possession of stolen property.
