Two suspects were arrested by Murrieta Police Department officers Monday morning for outstanding felony warrants and possession of illegal substances and items, authorities said.

Walter Gomez 34, of Escondido and Georgina Morales, 34, of Hemet were booked into the Southwest Detention Center after the discovery was made during a traffic stop conducted at about 2:20 a.m. near Calle De Oso Oro and Washington Avenue, according to a news release. A records check revealed that Gomez had an outstanding felony warrant for fraud in San Diego County and Morales had two felony warrants for larceny and violation of Post Release Community Supervision for domestic violence.

Officers searching the vehicle located methamphetamine, narcotics, narcotics paraphernalia and several tools commonly used to commit burglaries. In addition to the felony warrant, Gomez was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Morales was arrested for the two felony warrants, plus possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and possession of burglary tools.
