Each week, Murrieta 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Vista Murrieta High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's honorees from Vista Murrieta:

Forward Maitland Kingsley has had an impressive freshman season for the girls basketball team, which finished league play 9-1 and is 18-6 overall heading into Thursday night's first-round CIF Division 1AA playoff matchup against North Torrance (7 p.m. at Vista).

"Maitland has been a dependable and productive player and has emerged as an impressive rebounder for our team," said coach Kurt Ruth. "In our 3 games (the week of Jan. 30), she had a total of 16 points (5.3 per game) and 18 rebounds (6.0 per game). She also had a season-high 6 steals in our victory over Chaparral. Maitland has a very bright future ahead of her."

Senior forward Trevor Sergent continues to have a standout season for the boys basketball team, which finished league play 8-2 (21-4 overall) heading into the CIF 2A playoffs at home against Redlands Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Girls soccer player Chelsee Duran had a hat trick in a 5-1 win over Murrieta Mesa Feb. 1. She helped the Broncos score three wins that week to win their second consecutive league championship. They will learn their first-round playoff opponent on Monday.
