The Academy of Ballet Arts, in conjunction with the Murrieta Arts Council, recently hosted a special afternoon of art and ballet in Murrieta. Approximately 100 in attendance came to see some of the city's finest artwork and most talented dancers.

The event opened with a nice variety of paintings on display, with a few select pieces being sold. Other pieces that were on display will be part of Murrieta Arts Council’s upcoming Online Art Gallery/Catalog. That project, which will present many pieces of artwork by Murrieta artists for sale or rent, is seeking a corporate sponsor or benefactor.

Also on display were some of the dancers' extraordinary costumes, many of them handmade by Dana Nelson of ABA.

Later in the afternoon the ballerinas took the floor and dazzled the crowd with their skills, personality and beauty.

Murrieta Arts Council’s next free event will be on Earth Day (April 22) from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the large and lovely outdoor display area at Water Wise, 41034 Elm St. in Murrieta. The event will feature artists, musicians, dancers, food and much more. Some good display locations and performance times are still available; contact jessica@murrietaarts.org for more information.
