A Murrieta man faces multiple charges of drug possession for sales and carrying a concealed weapon following an arrest March 2 on the border of Murrieta and Menifee, authorities said.

Anthony Del Calzo, 45, was detained when Murrieta Police Department officers conducting a traffic stop at 10:40 p.m. near Scott Road and Interstate 215 saw narcotics in plain view inside the vehicle. During a search of the suspect, a loaded firearm was found in his waistband and a methamphetamine pipe was found in his pocket, according to a news release.

A search of the suspect's vehicle revealed a second loaded firearm and a significant amount of narcotics. Detectives following up with a search warrant at Del Calzo's residence found 15 different types of prescription pills, several pounds of cocaine and methamphetamine, narcotics paraphernalia, drug packaging and ammunition along with a large amount cash.

Del Calzo was booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
