Murrieta 24/7 is pleased to honor top athletes from Murrieta Mesa High School, as nominated by their coaches. Here are the Athletes of the Week for the weeks of March 20 and March 27:

Whitney Lybbert of the girls swim team was honored for her versatility, especially in stepping up in a lot of the longer events. Jonathan Yelenich excelled for the boys swim team in a meet against Temecula Valley and posted his best time in the 100 breaststroke.

Cole Franklin and Anthony Weaver make up the tennis team's No. 1 doubles team. At the time they were selected, they had a 21-9 record for the season.

Dayna Carson set a school record in the long jump and Zeinab Torabi set a record in the 300 hurdles for the girls track team.

Matthew Okonkwo excelled in the 100 and 200 and Chris Dixon helped lead the team to a win over Temecula Valley for the boys track team. Both set personal bests -- Okonkwo in the 100 and 200 and Dixon in the 1600.

Sophomore Carcie Chappell scored three goals in a win against Hemet for the girls lacrosse team.

These athletes will be eligible for the March Athlete of the Month award.
