Lacrosse standout Cameron Bentley and track and field star Zeinab Torabi have been named Murrieta 24/7 Athletes of the Month at Murrieta Mesa High School.

Bentley is a sophomore attacker for the lacrosse team, which took a 13-2 record into Tuesday's regular-season finale -- the best record in the three-year history of the program. He helped the team defeat powerhouse Great Oak for the first time this year as well.

Growing up playing lacrosse in youth leagues in Temecula and Murrieta, Bentley chose to attend Mesa when the school started its program in the sport. He also plays water polo.

Torabi broke the school record in the 300-meter hurdles in the Chandler Rotary Invitational in Arizona March 25.

"There was really good competition there and that really pushed me," Torabi said. "Based on my seed, I was in the second fastest heat but I was the slowest in that heat coming in. I wasn't expected to win, but I took first in my heat and third overall."

Torabi has also received solid experience by competing in such big meets as the Arcadia Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays. She is considering attending UC San Diego.
