A Lake Elsinore man was booked on multiple drug charges after being located in a vehicle with illegal substances and in violation of probation, Murrieta Police said today.

Derek Harp, 27, was contacted by an officer while sitting in a vehicle parked in the 39500 block of Los Alamos Road at 4:20 a.m. today, according to a news release. The officer reported that the four occupants of the vehicle were acting suspiciously.

A records check revealed that Harp was on active mandatory supervision probation for the possession of a stolen vehicle. He also had numerous convictions for the sale and transportation of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed a duffel bag including a significant amount of methamphetamine, narcotics paraphernalia and cash. The street value of the narcotics was estimated at $1,600.
