A transient was booked for possession of a stolen weapon and narcotics for sale following a traffic stop and search of a vehicle by Murrieta Police officers, authorities said this week.

Eligha Everett, 25, was detained by officers during a traffic stop near the intersection of Ynez Road and Solana Road in Temecula on July 20, according to a news release. Officers discovered two bottles of prescription promethazine with the prescription labels peeled off. Everett, a passenger in the vehicle, admitted to possessing the bottles.

Illegal use and sales of promethazine is increasing in Southwest Riverside County, according to the news release. Street slang terms for the drug include Sizzurp, purple drank, syrup and lean.

Detectives called onto the case gained consent from the female driver of the vehicle to search a hotel room the couple had rented. There they discovered more of the drug and a stolen handgun. Everett was booked into the Byrd Detention Center. The driver of the vehicle was released.
