Multiple residents were displaced from a Murrieta apartment building that was damaged when a vehicle crashed into the building and was wedged about three feet off the ground, authorities said.

Rescuers extricated from the vehicle Nichole Winters, 41, of Temecula. She was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of driving under the influence.
No other injuries were reported. Because of the uncertainty of the extent of the damage to the building, the building's electricity and gas were turned off and residents of the complex were asked to leave until an inspection could be performed. The Red Cross assisted those displaced.
