Murrieta 24/7 is pleased to once again honor outstanding athletes at area high schools. Each coach of a sport in season is allowed to select one athlete per week as Athlete of the Week. Here are this week's honorees from Murrieta Valley High School:

Brooklyn VanBebber
of the girls golf team opened the season with a 9-hole average of 38.2 over the first few matches. Her low round was a 33 at Victoria Country Club.

Junior goalkeeper Collin Winters had a season-high 14 saves in a win over Riverside Poly for the boys water polo team at the Santa Barbara Invitational, where the team finished in 10th place. Senior center forward Carson Paiva scored two goals in a win over Corona Santiago and boasts a 4.2 grade point average.

Cross country runner Caitlin Billman had a great race at Laguna Hills, said coach Jose Villegas. She won her heat as the fastest junior of the team and set the seventh fastest time of the day.

Tennis player Aliya Andrews swept her matches against Paloma Valley Sept. 12 by scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0 to help the Nighthawks score a 14-4 victory.
