Murrieta 24/7 is pleased to honor outstanding athletes at area high schools. Each coach of a sport in season is allowed to select one athlete per week as Athlete of the Week. Here are this week's honorees from Vista Murrieta High School:

Edgard Villa of the boys cross country team placed third in the rated race at the Woodbridge Invitational with the fastest 3-mile time in school history, 14:31.

Paige Haynes of the girls cross country team placed 10th in the sweepstakes race at the Woodbridge Invitational. Her time of 16:27 was the fastest 3-mile time in school history.

Golf standout Riley Warnock shot a 44, her low score of the year, to help the Broncos beat Chaparral. She followed that with the team's second lowest score at the Rainbow Sandals tournament in San Clemente.

The doubles team of Dani Arribere and Sara Lowe fought back from a 5-2 deficit to win a crucial set in a tiebreaker, 9-7, for the girls tennis team.
