Murrieta 24/7 is pleased to honor outstanding athletes at area high schools. Each coach of a sport in season is allowed to select one athlete per week as Athlete of the Week. Here are this week's honorees from Murrieta Valley High School:


Laney Pearson led the way in play against Murrieta Mesa and Great Oak for the girls tennis team as the Nighthawks clinched the league title.


Offensive lineman Clay Hatch continues to perform well for the football team, which is undefeated in league play.

Senior goalie Joel Famularo has helped the boys water polo team post a league record of 9-0 and overall record of 20-10. He has been a varsity player for three years.








Brooklyn Van Bebber qualified for the CIF individual golf championships by finishing in fourth place at league finals. She shot 76 at Dad Miller to qualify for the second round of CIF individuals.





Freshman cross country runner Juan Rosales ran a time of 17:45 at the Riverside Invitational, placing him as the seventh fastest freshman in school history.
