Murrieta 24/7 is pleased to honor outstanding athletes at area high schools. Each coach of a sport in season is allowed to select one athlete per week as Athlete of the Week. Here are this week's honorees from Murrieta Valley High School:

Summer Osterhout of the girls golf team "has been a great team player all season long," said coach Rogelio Gallegos. "She always has a positive attitude and she encourages her teammates to do their best."

Cross country runner Destiny Sanchez placed fourth on the girls team in the Large Schools Division race of the Inland Empire Challenge, helping the Nighthawks take first place. Her time was 19:54.

Quarterback Hank Bachmeier passed for 273 yards and 4 touchdowns in the football team's 42-17 victory over Chaparral.

Junior attacker Weston Restad of the water polo team helped the Nighthawks go 4-0 in the Jesuit Invitational last weekend in Sacramento.
