Home security video and the alertness of a Murrieta Police officer led to the arrest of a Murrieta woman suspected of stealing a package off a front doorstep, police said.

Lauren Colyott, 34, was recognized by an officer who viewed security video posted on a social media page. The officer had arrested her in April for similar crimes while driving a similar vehicle. Colyott is on two separate probations for theft and identity theft.

On Oct. 6, members of the Murrieta Police Department Special Enforcement Team conducted a probation search at Colyott's residence and located the stolen package in the trash. Officers also found hair dye and hair clippings believed to be part of Colyott's attempt to change her appearance.

Colyott was arrested for theft, possession of stolen property and violation of probation and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
