Two Murrieta residents died Monday night in a single-vehicle accident in an unincorporated area west of the city, authorities said.

A 2010 Mercedes sedan was traveling northbound on Avenida de Arboles near Palo Alto Lane at an undetermined speed just after 11 p.m. when the vehicle left the edge of the roadway on a curve and crashed into two brick pillars and a metal speaker intercom at the front gate of a residence, according to a CHP news release. The car burst into flames.

The driver, 52-year-old Dennis Carver of Murrieta, and a passenger, 53-year-old Lorraine Carver of Murrieta, died in the crash. No other details were available.
