A Temecula man was arrested and booked on a charge of voluntary manslaughter after he allegedly stabbed to death a man in the parking lot of a Temecula Walmart store, authorities said.
James Fortney, 40, is being held at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta with bail set at $100,000, according to jail records. He is accused of the fatal stabbing of a man Wednesday afternoon in what one report states was an incident of road rage.
The NBC affiliate in Los Angeles identified the victim as 19-year-old Kevin Rodriguez. Relatives of Rodriguez told Channel 4 in a broadcast report that the suspect confronted Rodriguez and his girlfriend in the Walmart parking lot after he was forced to wait in his vehicle while Rodriguez's vehicle stopped for a pedestrian on a nearby street.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene at 12:14 p.m. in the 32000 block of Temecula Parkway. The victim was treated at the scene but later died at a local hospital.
