Bicyclist killed in collision with car on Washington Ave.

The Murrieta Police Department is seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed a traffic collision that killed a bicyclist on Sunday.

The accident occurred about 5:57 p.m., according to a Murrieta PD news release. The bicyclist and a male driver of a white Pontiac van were traveling north on Washington Avenue. The collision occurred between Lemon Street and Davenport Way. The cause of the investigation is ongoing.

The bicyclist, a 43-year-old male, suffered head injuries and died at a local hospital. His identity has not been released. The driver of the van was not injured. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor.
