Murrieta Mesa High School placed seven players on the All-CIF Division 4 team and Murrieta Valley placed two on the Division 1 team, capping honors given to local players from the 2017 football season.

The Rams' list of honorees includes Kai Thompson, who rushed for 1,727 yards and 21 touchdowns last fall. He is joined on the offensive unit by lineman Conner Mazzotta, wide receiver Giovanni Sanders and utility player Jeff Miller. The defensive team includes defensive back Daemahni Williams, lineman Colin Layton and linebacker Jordan Atkinson.

Sanders caught 94 passes for 1,695 yards and 23 touchdowns for the Rams, who finished the season with a 9-4 record and made it to the CIF semifinals.

Murrieta Valley, which won the Southwestern League title at 5-0 and posted a 9-3 overall record, is represented on the Division 1 team by quarterback Hank Bachmeier and wide receiver Marquis Spiker. Bachmeier passed for 3,255 yards and 42 touchdowns, while Spiker caught 83 passes for 1,490 yards and 27 touchdowns.
