Murrieta 24/7 honors area high school athletes for their accomplishments. Coaches of each sport are invited to submit one athlete per week for recognition. Here are this week's Athletes of the Week at Vista Murrieta High School:

Alexis Mead scored in double figures in each of the girls basketball team's three games last week, highlighted by a stellar 17-point effort in a 72-31 victory over Murrieta Valley on Tuesday. In that game alone, she converted 5 of her 7 three-point attempts, and on the week, she finished over 50 percent (9-16) from beyond the arc. In only 13 minutes of playing time in a 74-29 victory over Temecula Valley on Friday, she managed to score 10 points and collect 4 steals. Lastly, in a 74-61 victory over Norco on Saturday, Lexi scored 11 points and dished out 6 assists.

Junior forward Victor Becerra of the boys soccer team returned from an injury in a big way last week, scoring 4 goals and assisting on another as the Broncos continued to battle for the Southwestern League title. Becerra is 2 goals away from tying the single-season scoring record.

Senior Anthony Smith is one of the leaders of the boys basketball team, which is 16-7 overall.
