The Vista Murrieta High School girls basketball team will open the CIF playoffs at home Friday night, leading a select group of Murrieta teams that have qualified for postseason competition.

The Broncos, who went undefeated in league play and are 23-2 overall, will be home against Canyon Springs Friday at 7 p.m. in a Div. 1 playoff opener. Canyon Springs is 16-7 overall.

In a Div 2A girls basketball opener, Murrieta Valley (15-1) will play at Downey Friday night while in Div. 3A, Murrieta Mesa (13-11) will play at Granite Hills. In a Div. 2 girls water polo game, Murrieta Valley (12-13, 8-0 in league) will be at home at 5 p.m. Friday against a wild-card winner from Wednesday.

In boys basketball, Vista Murrieta (17-10) will play a Div. 2A game at Hesperia Wednesday at 7 p.m. The same night, Murrieta Mesa (21-8) will play at Adelanto.
