Murrieta 24/7 honors area high school athletes for their accomplishments. Coaches of each sport are invited to submit athletes for recognition. Here are this week's Athletes of the Week at Murrieta Mesa High School:

Preston Juarequi (left) was honored from the boys lacosse team. He scored more than 30 goals in the first five games of the season, including a 10-goal performance against Esperanza.

Softball pitcher Autumn Pease entered the week with a 1.07 ERA with 64 strikeouts and 7 wins. "She is a great student and has a heavy impact on the team," said coach Tony Romero.

Taylor Simon of the girls swim team was honored for her record-breaking swim in the 100 butterfly. Brycen Ferrera of the boys swim team was honored for his 1:02 time in the 100 butterfly, which is a 5-second drop from last year.


Taylor Baggest (right) of the girls lacrosse team is a sophomore who entered this week with 9 goals: 3 vs. Santiago, 1 vs. Chaparral, 2 vs. Downey and 3 vs. Norco. "Her speed, stick skills and aggressiveness are very admirable," said her coach, Molly Sovacool.
