An 82-year-old bicyclist died from injuries suffered when he was struck by a vehicle on a Temecula street on Saturday, authorities said.

The Coroner's Office identified the victim as Kenrick Skinner of Murrieta. A Sheriff's Department investigation indicated that Skinner crossed into oncoming traffic on Margarita Road near Paseo Brillante about 7:18 a.m., according to a news release. He was hit by a gray Toyota Corolla that was traveling eastbound on Margarita Road.

Emergency crews arrived to find the victim unresponsive. He was transported to Inland Valley Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

An investigation of the accident is ongoing. Margarita Road was closed between Stonewood and Moraga roads for several hours.
