Murrieta man faces murder charge in death of local woman

A Murrieta man was arrested on suspicion of murder Saturday as part of the investigation into the death of a woman Thursday in Temecula, authorities said today.

Edwin Cordova, 28, was taken into custody by Sheriff's deputies. This remains an active investigation.

Deputies responded at 8:42 p.m. Thursday to an area near Camino Estribo and Pujol Street to the report that a vehicle had been located off the roadway and down a steep embankment. Cynthia Denise Ibarra-Cabrera, 30, of Murrieta was found dead inside the vehicle. At that time, this was listed as a suspicious death.
